Feature film Flavia De Luce has locked down a UK shoot, with the new tax relief for indies of up to £15m helping secure the location.

Bharat Nalluri is in the director’s chair, with filming beginning in early October in the Reading/Guildford area; it will shoot entirely on location.

Molly Belle Wright plays Flavia with Freeman co-starring.

The film is adapted from the best-selling series of books by Alan Bradley about quick-witted, 11 year-old Flavia, an amateur detective and chemistry fan with an interest in poison, who sets about solving mysteries in her small English village.

The UK Independent Film Tax Credit of up to 40% for qualifying UK films with budgets up to £15m was introduced as part of this year’s Spring Budget, and squeezed through as part of the 2024 Finance Bill in late May before Parliament was dissolved ahead of the swiftly-called General Election.
