Filming wraps on BBC's 'Smoggie Queens' from writer-actor Phil Dunning

The comedy is centred around a group of friends who are fiercely proud of their North Eastern town of Middlesbrough and their small pocket of the LGBTQ+ community.

Filming has wrapped Smoggie Queens, the BBC comedy set in Middlesbrough, UK.

Smoggie Queens is centred around a group of friends who are fiercely proud of their town of Middlesbrough and their small pocket of the LGBTQ+ community.

It is written by and stars Middlesbrough native Phil Dunning, alongside Mark Benton, Alexandra Mardell, Patsy Lowe and Elijah Young.

Also joining the cast are Drag Race's Michelle Visage and Peaky Blinder's star Charlotte Riley alongside Ted Lasso's Bill Fellows, presenter Steph McGovern, and actors Lauryn Redding, Peter McPherson, Neil Grainger, and Michael Mather of It's A Sin.

Smoggie Queens is directed by Andrew Chaplin of The Full Monty and tells the story of volatile Dickie (played by Dunning), drag queen Mam (Benton), self-styled hun Lucinda (Mardell), awkward Sal (Lowe) and newcomer Stewart (Young) as they navigate love, life and their pride for a town that feels neglected in its own little corner of the UK.

The six-episode series is a Hat Trick production, whose credits include Derry Girls, Outnumbered, Have I Got News For You and Episodes. Funding is support by North East Screen Industries Partnership delivered by North East Screen with worldwide distribution by Hat Trick International. The producer is Chris Jones.
