5%-10% Commercials (including VFX) Grant:

and bull; 5% for in-state spend = $100K to $1M

and bull; 10% for in-state spend > $1M

5%-20% Video Game Project Grant:

and bull; 5% for in-state spend = $100K to < $1M and bull; 10% for in-state spend = $1M to $3.5M and bull; 20% for in-state spend > $3.5M

5%-10% Reality TV Projects Grant:

and bull; 5% for in-state spend = $250K to $1M

Bonus: 2.5% if > 25% of TX production days occur in underutilized or economically distressed areas.

Compensation and Project Caps/ Funding Per Year

This incentive program is not administered on a first-come, first-served basis. Projects receive priority and approval based on information contained in the application and other criteria.

Annual Cap: Up to $95M appropriated from September 1, 2013, through August 31, 2015.

Project Cap: None.

Comp Cap: First $1M compensation paid per TX resident.

What Qualifies

Preproduction, production, and post-production expenses, including, but not limited to resident wages and payments to TX vendors qualify.

Application Considerations

Production company registration is not required. Submit application no earlier than 60 days and no later than 5:00 pm (Central), five days prior to principal photography. Confirmation of start of production by email to the TX Film Commission no later than five days after start date. Executed grant agreement is due within seven calendar days of acceptance by the TFC. Incentives call required with TFC and production. Crew call/job posting on TFC website required. Declaration of Residency Forms required.

Application Considerations

CPA audit required for projects with estimated grants of $300K or more. Submission to TFC no later than 60 days from final TX expenditure.

Registration: None.

Production directory available. TX is a right-to- work state.

Executive Producers not working on location will not be counted as crew; neither will those positions not paid by the production (e.g., camera truck/grip drivers required on set but paid by the vendors). Refunds available for fuel taxes on fuel used off-road in generators, boats, or in unlicensed vehicles (e.g., tractors).

Project Criteria

At least 70% of total paid cast and crew, including extras, must be TX residents unless the Film Office certifies in writing that a sufficient number of TX residents are not available to the production at the time principal photgraphy commences. At least 60% of total production days must be completed in TX.
