The Asian Cinema Fund (ACF), a branch of the Busan International Film Festival, has sent a call for submissions for this year’s edition of the various funding platforms.
The fund is seeking new projects from talented young Asian filmmakers looking for funding support in order to boost independent film production in the region.
Projects in need of digital intermediate colour grading, sound mixing, and digital cinema package services as well as the use of state-of-the-art facilities in Korea, can apply for ACF’s Post-production Fund.
For projects in the pre-production stage, ACF’s Script Development Fund will give a 10,000,000 KRW (approx. USD 10,000 or GBP 6500) to three Korean projects and five Asian projects.
The Asian Network of Documentaries (AND) has boosted its support this year for Asian and Korean documentary projects and through the BIFF Mecenat Fund it will support the Korean and Asian documentary industry with 140,000,000 KRW (approx. USD 140,000 or GBP 91,000) in total. The decision to increase funding was made due to the success of recent ACF funded projects such as Jiseul, Anxiety and the acclaimed 5 Broken Cameras.
The deadline for ACN’s Post-production Fund is set for 20 April while the deadline for Script Development and Asian Network of Documentary Funds is 10 May.
The 18th Busan International Film Festival will be held from 3 to 12 October 2013 with the Asian Film Market and Asian Project Market taking place from 7 to 10 October.
More information on how to apply can be found on the website of the Korean Film Commission.
