Ben Kingsley and Dominic Cooper head for Malta
A robustly starry cast including Ben Kingsley, Dominic Cooper, Peter O’Toole, Julia Ormond and Odeya Rush (The Odd Life of Timothy Green) have boarded the feature Mary Mother of Christ which is due to film in Malta next year.

A robustly starry cast including Ben Kingsley, Peter O’Toole, Julia Ormond and Odeya Rush (The Odd Life of Timothy Green) have boarded the feature Mary Mother of Christ which is due to film in Malta next year.
The New Testament epic follows Mary’s story, exploring her life at different stages, from childhood to motherhood. Rush plays Mary, with Ben Kingsley as King Herod. The film also stars Joe Azzopardi, Kellan Lutz, Vanessa Redgrave and Dominic Cooper, who developed a taste for Malta after filming The Devil’s Double there.
From Aloe Entertainment in LA, the feature is directed by Alister Grierson from a screenplay by Barbara Nicolosi. Malta-based Latina Pictures are the service providers; pre-production will start in early January with principal photography getting underway in March.
The production is benefitting from a 23% cash rebate from the Maltese government.
