The Killing cast joins Midsomer Murders in Copenhagen
British broadcaster ITV and the Danish public broadcaster DR have announced this week that they will be co-producing a special episode of the detective drama Midsomer Murders.

British broadcaster ITV and the Danish public broadcaster DR have announced this week that they will be co-producing a special episode of the detective drama Midsomer Murders.
The 100th episode will be filmed in Copenhagen and surrounding areas, and will feature local talent including Ann Eleonora Jorgensen from hit series The Killing and Birgitte Hjort Sorensen from Borgen. It is the first time the series has filmed abroad. The episode has been written by Paul Logue and will be directed by Alex Pillai.
The special show, entitled The Killings at Copenhagen, will see DCI Barnaby (Neil Dudgeon) and DS Nelson (Gwilym Lee) travel to Denmark when detectives there discover a body with links back to a family who live in the English town of Midsomer.
The making of the 16th series started filming in April and is still ongoing.
“Midsomer Murders is incredibly popular on prime time Danish television,” Jo Wright, executive producer of Midsomer Murders said. “It is known as Barnaby and has been running for 12 years winning 40% of the audience share.”
DR’s series acquisitions executive Kaare Schmidt said that Midsomer Murders could be considered a benchmark in television entertainment and that is was Danish viewers’ favourite programme for more than a decade.
