Emma Watson heads to Canada and Spain for Regression

Emma Watson is the latest talent to board Regression, the forthcoming feature from Alejandro Amenábar.
We spoke to Madrid-based production company Mod Producciones about the thriller and, although much of the plot and indeed the filming schedule is under wraps, they did confirm that pre-production is underway and that shooting will take place in Toronto and Madrid.
Watson joins Ethan Hawke in the film, which is produced by Fernando Bovaira for Mod and Christina Piovesan of First Generation Films in Canada, in association with the newly-established TWC-Dimension, the company formed by movie powerhouses Harvey and Bob Weinstein.
Chilean-Spanish director Amenábar has never been one to shy away from challenging subject matter – his 2004 film, The Sea Inside, dealt with euthanasia, scooping an Academy Award among its many gongs. Other credits include the multi-garlanded The Others (2001) starring Nicole Kidman, which also had Weinstein backing.
