The fourth series of the police drama Wallander begins shooting next week, and this time around locations are set to include South Africa and Denmark as well as the usual Swedish hot spots.
Sir Kenneth Branagh returns as the melancholic police officer in the 3 x 90 run, which is from Left Bank Pictures in the UK, Yellow Bird in Sweden and Branagh’s own production company TKBC.
James Dormer and Peter Harness have adapted the original Henning Mankell novels for the small screen with The White Lioness the first to be made. The episode will shoot in Cape Town, with other stories taking in Copenhagen and Skane in Sweden.
Daniel Gylling, executive producer for Yellow Bird, said of the drama: “We could not be more thrilled to start shooting series four with Sir Kenneth Branagh and continue honouring Henning Mankell’s great work by bringing Kurt Wallander to the audiences who love him.”
