Marvel Studios’ superhero movie Captain Marvel has wrapped the California leg of its production schedule.
The movie will end its shoot with a fortnight of filming in Louisiana, co-director Ryan Fleck revealed on social media.
Captain Marvel is set in the 1990s and stars Oscar winner Brie Larson as a United States Air Force pilot who becomes bestowed with super powers.
The movie secured filming incentive support of around $20m to shoot in California, becoming one of a handful of big-budget productions to film in and around Los Angeles over the past few years.
California still attracts only a limited number of studio features, partly because of limitations to its filming incentive support. A recent report recommended that state lawmakers make further changes to the film and TV tax credit programme to help California compete with Georgia, New York and the UK.
Marvel is also in advanced pre-production on the next Spider-Man film, which will shoot in the UK. Further, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has revealed that a third Guardians of the Galaxy movie is approaching pre-production. The film is also thought to be using the UK as a base.
Marvel’s longer-term slate is less clear at this stage after an ambiguous story ending for several of the studio’s key characters at the end of Avengers: Infinity War.
