The third season of Amazon and Paramount Television’s popular international spy drama series Jack Ryan, starring John Krasinski, will film across Mexico and Colombia, according to sources close to the project.
Amazon announced last year that it was renewing the series for a third season and production is now commencing across both Latin American countries with Krasinski returning as the titular character.
Exact details on all the shooting locations, plot and full cast for series three have yet to be revealed. However, it has been revealed that Prison Break creator Paul Scheuring has left the production less than three months after he joined the series as executive producer and season three showrunner. His number two, Vaun Wilmott, has taken over day-to-day showrunner duties.
Based on the Tom Clancy novels, the previous season of Jack Ryan shot across six cities and three continents, including the UK, Russia and Colombia, with Bogota doubling for Venezuela. The action followed CIA Officer Ryan as he tracked a suspicious shipment of illegal arms in the Venezuelan jungle.
Carlton Cuse and Graham Roland (Lost, Fringe) co-created the Jack Ryan series, although Cuse stepped back from his day-to-day showrunner duties in March last year after wrapping season two. Cuse was succeeded by David Scarpa who did a brief stint as showrunner before departing, and being replaced by Scheuring.
Krasinski is not only the star of the show, but also an executive producer, and has been very hands on with creative and staffing decisions. He is working on the script for season three with Wilmott.
Jack Ryan is a co-production of Amazon Studios and Paramount Television Studios and produced by Skydance Television.
