Cameras have just started rolling in Skarnes, Norway, on a new, untitled Netflix Original drama directed by Harald Zwart.
Zwart, whose credits include The Karate Kid and The Pink Panther 2, is calling the shots from scripts by Petter Holmsen; the six-part series is the third Netflix commission from Norwegian production company Motion Blur.
The Norwegian-language drama centres on Live Hallangen, who, having been declared dead, wakes up on the forensic table with a sudden urge for blood. As her brother tries to keep the family funeral business afloat, with not enough clients, Live realises her new thirst can help out her brother and ensure the survival of the business. Can the same be said for the survival of local residents..?
Zwart said: “I’m excited to be working with Netflix on this truly original story. We have a great cast, young, talented actors, who all embody the blend of Scandinavian mystique and dark humor.”
Producer Espen Horn and Kristian Strand Sinkerud added: “We at Motion Blur are proud and excited to partner up with Netflix for the third time. This is a unique thriller drama written by a unique writer with a unique director. How can we say no? We are thrilled!”
Horn and Sinkerud produce with Hege Skjerven Clausen for Motion Blur, whose previous two Netflix orders, Troll and Cadaver, launch in October.
