David O Russell's all-star project is filming in California

David O. Russell’s new as-yet-untitled film, boasting an impressive cast including De Niro, Bale and Rami Malek, is filming in California, despite Unions calling for a temporary halt to productions in the area.

While not much is known about the movie at this stage, it has been confirmed the project is based on an original idea by David O Russell and filming is currently underway in California with Covid protocols in place.

Early reporting suggests the plot could involve a doctor and lawyer teaming up "in some way", with a working title rumoured to be Amsterdam.

Earlier this month, US unions recommended a temporary hold on production in southern California due to Covid case numbers escalating and hospitals reaching “capacity crisis” point.

O Russell’s latest film, his first as director since Joy in 2015, is being backed by New Regency and will be distributed by 20th Century Studios. Other cast members include The Queen’s Gambit star Anya Taylor-Joy, Zoe Saldana, Chris Rock, Mike Myers, Michael Shannon and John David Washington.
