Construction is expected to commence later this year on Lake City Studios, Canada's largest film and TV studio complex.
Based in Burnaby, British Columbia and stretching across a 19-acre site, the facility will include over 1.3m square feet of total space, 21 sound stages, 150,000 sq ft of production office space, general office space, storage and workshops, an underground parkade as well as site works and landscaping.
Bird Construction was awarded a contract for the construction of Lake City Studios by Lake City Industries Limited Partnership valued at $200m.
Currently, Pinewood Toronto Studios stands as the largest film and TV facility in Canada, with more than 250,000 sq ft of production space.
Once completed it is expected Lake City Studios will significantly help to boost the local economy and will become a world-class film studio with the potential to attract major productions and support the overall growth of Canada's film industry.
