Marvel's upcoming feature Blade starring Mahershala Ali is set to start production in July, 2022.
Delroy Lindo (The Harder They Fall, Da 5 Bloods) and Aaron Pierre (M. Night Shyamalan’s Old) are also reported to star.
The film is expected to start principal photography next month and will shoot in Atlanta, Georgia as well as New Orleans.
According to an update via Production List, filming will commence on 4 July; with Bassam Tariq (Mogul Mowgli) helming the project from a script written by Watchmen's Stacy Osei-Kuffour.
Though plot details about the Marvel reboot remain under wraps, Ali is confirmed to star as the titular superhero.
A character description provided by the production-tracking site says: 'He is known to be a vampire hunter— half-mortal, half-immortal— who tries to rid the world of vampires as a way of avenging his mother, who was killed by a vampire as she gave birth to him.'
Ali has already appeared as the iconic vampire hunter briefly during the post-credit scene for Eternals, but wasn't shown on screen.
A release date is to be confirmed.
