Succession actor Brian Cox has joined the cast of UK comedy The Glove, starring Vic Reeves and Bob Mortimer, which is set to shoot in spring 2023.
The film, which marks the feature debut of longstanding UK comedy duo Reeves and Mortimer, has been in development since 2018 and will begin filming on location in the UK next year.
It will be directed by Tim Kirkby, who has a string of TV comedy credits such as Veep and Fleabag but also directed Johnny Knoxville feature Action Point in 2018.
London-based StudioPOW will produce the feature, which Altitude will release in the UK and Ireland. Producers are Perry Trevers and Gina Powell at StudioPOW and Kevin Proctor and Nicola Holt at YES! Media while co-producers are Patricia Rybarcyk and Sacha Bennett of Three Wise Monkeys.
The story follows Reeves and Mortimer on a road trip across England as they search for an elusive piece of celebrity memorabilia – Michael Jackson’s glove. It is said to be the final outing for Vic Reeves, a comedy character created by Jim Moir who has partnered with Mortimer for more than 30 years on series including Shooting Stars, Vic Reeves Big Night Out and The Smell of Reeves And Mortimer.
Cox is a two-time Emmy nominee for playing Logan Roy in HBO drama Succession and has film credits including Zodiac, The Bourne Identity, Churchill and Manhunter.
Further casting has yet to be announced but is being overseen by casting director Shaheen Baig.
