The limited series marks the first international project to be supported by the Vienna Film Commission’s FISAplus incentive scheme

Production on HBO's The Palace, starring Kate Winslet, is underway in Vienna, Austria.
According to C21 Media, the series has already started filming in the Austrian capital. It also marks the first international project to be supported by the Vienna Film Commission’s FISAplus incentive scheme.
The network's official logline reveals it “tells the story of one year within the walls of the palace of a modern European regime as it begins to unravel”.
Alongside Winslet, the upcoming show also stars Matthias Schoenaerts, Guillaume Gallienne, Andrea Riseborough and Martha Plimpton, as well as guest star Hugh Grant.
The Palace is directed by Stephen Frears and Jessica Hobbs. Will Tracy serves as writer, executive producer and showrunner. Seth Reiss, Juli Weiner, Jen Spyra, Gary Shteyngart and Sarah DeLappe are writing alongside Tracy. Winslet, Frears, Hobbs, Frank Rich and Tracey Seaward also exec produce.
Speaking about the production, Marijana Stoisits, managing director, Vienna Film Commission, said: “We are extremely pleased that suitable locations were found for The Palace in Vienna and the Vienna Film Commission was able to support the production in the preparation and realisation of its shooting from the very beginning.
