American music artist, actor and television producer Curtis '50 Cent' Jackson is set to develop his own film and TV studio, after purchasing a 985,000 sq ft warehouse.
In an Instagram video on Saturday, the rapper-turned-actor teased a snapshot of the currently vacant production space, that will become home to the upcoming G-Unit studio.
“Well, would you look at here... 985,000 square feet. Can you say G-Unit studios?” he says in the clip.
He captioned the post: “GLG🚦GreenLightGang G-unit film &Tv 💣BOOM 💨 I need room to work 🤷🏽♂️ I don’t miss 🎯 📺will never be the same. #bransoncognac #lecheminduroi.“
It is unclear at this stage where G-Unit Studios will be built, but reports indicate it could be Texas after the star relocated to Houston in 2021.
The star began his ascent to the small screen when with American crime drama television series Power, created and produced by Courtney A. Kemp in collaboration with the former rapper. It aired on the Starz network from June 7, 2014, to February 9, 2020. He subsequently launched three spin-off series: Power Book II: Ghost, Power Book III: Raising Kanan, and Power Book IV: Force. He simultaneously started the biographical drama series based on Black Mafia Family, BMF.
In September 2022, however, 50 Cent announced his deal with the cable network reached its terminus following a dispute after a salacious scene debuted on Power in August 2016 without the actor's consent.
“09-17-22 official day of really owning my content and deciding where and how I do it moving forward,” and then later posted, “Starz deal done. We had nothing but success so no hard feelings. I’m out. I’ll let you know where we are going shortly.”
