Joe Carnahan's survival thriller Not Without Hope filming in Malta

Director Joe Carnahan's Not Without Hope, starring Zachary Levi, is currently filming in Malta.

The survival thriller is an adaptation of Nick Schuyler and Jere Longman’s 2010 non-fiction book, written and directed by Carnahan.

The story is based on the real events of February 2009, where personal trainer Nick Schuyler (Levi), his best friend Will Bleakley, and NFL players Marquis Cooper and Corey Smith are on a fishing trip in the Gulf of Mexico when their boat capsizes, stranding the four men at sea. In the days that follow, the men fight to survive as they await to see if help will come.

Last week, it was announced Josh Duhamel (Transformers franchise) will join the ensemble cast as the US Coast Guard Captain; alongside Quentin Plair who plays Marquis, Terrence Terrell as Corey and Marshall Cook as Will; and JoBeth Williams.

The film is produced by Carnahan; Michael Jefferson, Adam Beasley and Cindy Bru of Volition Media; Kia Jam of K. Jam Media; Dean Altit of Altit Media Group; Rick French of Prix Productions; David Lipper and Robert A. Daly Jr of Latigo Films, Alla Belaya, Vadim Fortunin, Jean-Pierre Magro, and Highland Film Group.
