Doctor Who's returning showrunner, Russell T Davies, has confirmed series 14 has officially wrapped production in the UK.

The next chapter of BBC's iconic sci-fi series began filming in December, 2022 in and around Swansea, Bristol, Newport and Cardiff and wrapped over the weekend (July 15, 2023).

"That’s a wrap! ❤️❤️➕🟦 @bbcdoctorwho," said Davies on Instagram, alongside a cast and crew wrap photo featuring the TARDIS.

Season 14 will see three special episodes starring David Tennant as the Fourteenth Doctor, coinciding with the series' 60th anniversary. Ncuti Gatwa's first episode as the Fifteenth Doctor will subsequently air over the same season. The series also introduces Millie Gibson as the Doctor's newest companion, Ruby Sunday.

It will be the fifth series led by Davies as head writer and executive producer, and the first since his return to the show, having previously worked on it from 2005–2010.

In May this year, Gatwa was announced as Jodie Whittaker's successor as the programme's lead. In January, the BBC announced that Aneurin Barnard would appear as Roger ap Gwilliam, and that Jemma Redgrave, having reprised her role in the previous series would continue to appear as Kate Stewart during Season 14.

The series, which will be preceded by a festive episode in late 2023, will comprise of eight episodes — directed by Dylan Holmes Williams, Mark Tonderai, Julie Anne Robinson, Ben Chessell and Jamie Donoughue.

Production shifted from Roath Lock Studios to Wolf Studios after Sony-owned Bad Wolf became a co-producer of the series.
