French studio Samka Group opens LA base

Paris-based independent production company Samka Group have opened an LA branch.

In a statement to Deadline, Samka Group CEO Samuel Kaminka said: "This is a significant moment for Samka Group and demonstrates our commitment to growth, creating multiple new series with global appeal and stronger focus on the US market."

Cartoon Network's senior vice president and animation production veteran Tramm Wigzell will oversee the Californian base, reporting to Kaminka. 

According to Deadline, Wigzell will step into a newly-created role: Global Head of Content for the company, which is made up of seven satellite companies: Samka, Kam&Ka, Sklan&Ka, Good Karma, Jetpack Distribution, Kazoo Animation, and Unique Animation.

Samka Group already has offices in Paris, Angoulême, and Tourcoing, France; London, UK; Milan, Italy; and Tel Aviv, Israel.
