Malice, the upcoming co-production, will begin principal photography in April 2024 in Taiwan.
Today, October 9, filmmaker Lungyin Lim announced the cast as part of a panel on the upcoming production.
The film follows the story of a father and son who head out on their boat to hunt a mysterious and potentially extinct huge swordfish.
Malice features filmmaking and production crew from Taiwan, Malaysia, and Czech Republic, and is produced by Indonesian KawanKawan Media, led by Yulia Evina Bhara. The film's other producers include Kuek Shee Heng and Ivy Shen Yu-Hua.
The father will be played by Kim Jieh-Wen, with Hsueh Shih-Ling (who recently won the Best Supporting Actor award for Taiwan Crime Stories at the ACFM awards), and Angga Aldi Yunanda also starring as the main trio.
The cast have a three week fishermen training session beginning next week (October 16) in Taiwan.
"At KawanKawan media we usually work with producers from south east asia, but now from taiwan so I'm very happy," Bhara said.
