'Opus' starring Ayo Edebiri, John Malkovich, and more begins production

Opus is filming in and around Albuquerque and Pojoaque, New Mexico through December.

Written and directed by Mark Anthony Green, Opus follows the return of an iconic pop star following his decades-long disappearance. Ayo Edebiri (The Bear), John Malkovich (Billions), Murray Bartlett (The White Lotus), Amber Midthunder (Prey),  Stephanie Suganami (Power Book II: Ghost), Young Mazino (Beef), Tatanka Means (Killers of the Flower Moon), and Juliette Lewis (Yellowjackets) star. 

Collin Creighton and Brad Weston will produce for Makeready, Poppy Hanks, and Jelani Johnson will produce for MACRO Film Studios with Charles D King as executive producer. Josh Bachove will produce, and Sara Newkirk Simon will executive produce. A24 will finance and produce. In addition, musical artists The-Dream and Nile Rodgers serve as executive producers, and will pen original songs for the film.

According to the New Mexico Film Office, production on Opus is set to employ over 700 New Mexicans.
