BBC and Netflix's 'Lockerbie' begins production in Scotland

The series will also shoot in Malta and Toronto, and stars Connor Swindells

BBC and Netflix's 'Lockerbie' begins production in Scotland

Filming on the BBC and Netflix drama Lockerbie has begun in Scotland. Production will also take place in Malta and Toronto, Canada, the BBC have confirmed.

The six part factual drama follows the real events surrounding the 1988 Lockerbie bombing, when a bomb exploded in the hold of flight Pan Am 103 over the Scottish town of Lockerbie that killed 270 people. Lockerbie will focus on the joint Scots-US investigation and the effect it had on the small town and the families who lost loved ones.

Lockerbie’s cast includes SAS Rogue Heroes' Connor Swindells and Suits' Patrick J Adams, alongside Merritt Wever, Peter Mullan, Tony Curran, Eddie Marsan, Lauren Lyle, Andrew Rothney, Phyllis Logan, Parker Sawyers, James Harkness, Khalid Laith, and Amanda Drew.

Michael Keillor directors from scripts by lead writer Jonathan Lee, with two episodes penned by Scottish screenwriter Gillian Roger Park, and is produced by World Productions in association with MGM Television and Night Train Media.

Julia Stannard produces, with executive producers Simon Heath and Roderick Seligman for World Productions; Steve Stark and Stacey Levin for Toluca Pictures, Adam Morane-Griffiths, Sara Curran, Herbert L. Kloiber for Night Train Media, Michael Keillor; and Gaynor Holmes for the BBC. The co-executive producer is Joe Hill, with Mona Qureshi and Manda Levin overseeing for Netflix.
