'The Gilded Age' season three begins production, returns to Troy, NY to film

The HBO series by 'Downton Abbey' creator Julian Fellowes has expanded its filming locations in the New York state, doubling them for 1880s New York City

Filming on HBO's The Gilded Age began in Troy, New York on August 5, with returning stars Carrie Coon, Morgan Spector, Cynthia Nixon, and Christine Baranski.

Created, written, and executive produced by Downton Abbey's Julian Fellowes, The Gilded Age has returned to Troy for season three production, doubling the upstate region for New York City in the 19th century.

The series is also filming in the New York town of Schenectady, in its historic Stockade neighbourhood, as well as New York's capital city Albany.

The Gilded Age takes place in New York City in the 1880s, a period of immense economic change, conflict between the old ways and brand-new systems, and fortunes made and lost.

Michael Engler directs and executive produces alongside Fellowes, Gareth Neame, Bob Greenblatt, Salli Richardson-Whitfield, and Sonja Warfield who also co-writes the series. 

It is a co-production between HBO and Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group.

Season two's cast also includes Louisa Jacobson, Denée Benton, Ben Ahlers, Michael Cerveris, Kelley Curran, Taissa Farmiga, Jack Gilpin, Simon Jones, Sullivan Jones, Celia Keenan-Bolger, Debra Monk, Donna Murphy, Kristine Nielsen, Kelli O’Hara, Patrick Page, Harry Richardson, Taylor Richardson, Blake Ritson, Douglas Sills, Erin Wilhelmi, Nathan Lane, Audra McDonald, John Douglas Thompson, Ashlie Atkinson, Laura Benanti, Nicole Brydon Bloom, Christopher Denham, David Furr, Ward Horton, Matilda Lawler and Robert Sean Leonard.
