Q&A with Philm It CEO and founder Aleksandar Nikolov

Based in Sofia, Bulgaria, Philm It was founded in 2015 with the goal of producing audiovisual content without restrictions, without barriers, without borders or labels, making each project a new challenge, a new adventure. Since, Philm It has collaborated with other production companies across over 50 projects from advertising and music videos to cinema.

After the incorporation of new partners in 2023, Philm It has embarked on a new path, positioning itself as an independent production company, hand in hand with the best filmmakers, directors and directors of photography.

What is Philm It's mission statement and ethos?

We are a production company offering complete production services dedicated to providing top-notch quality no matter where or what the type of production is.

We are based in Sofia, Bulgaria but we’ve set up shop in all neighbouring countries, western Europe, the US, Latin America, and the Middle East, working with vetted professionals everywhere. Sustainability, innovation, and versatility are embedded in every step of the process.

We go that extra mile because filming for us is not only a profession but also our life.

What services does Philm It provide?

We provide full production and virtual production services including script services, location scouting, legal and accounting and complete previsualization, postproduction and VFX for all projects.

Have there been any recent developments with local studios, financial incentives, and infrastructure in Bulgaria, and what are the benefits of those changes for those potential clients?

We are constantly evolving, giving the best seamless experience to our clients. Apart from our local expansion, recently we have established a partnership with production companies as Massif Network Platform in Iceland and Millemeter in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, UAE and the region.

In terms of local improvements, we offer cash rebate advancing of funds through our own financial infrastructure thus giving our clients more flexibility and financial security. We are also in the process of acquiring financing capabilities.

What is the most challenging element of a production that you have been part of, and how do you overcome those challenges?

As in almost every other field, the most challenging element of a production is the human element. We pride ourselves in making and maintaining excellent professional relationships with our partners and clients, some of them becoming close friends over the years. Any challenge is conquerable with the right team.
