LA-based film and TV studio Happy Accidents and New Zealand-based production company Kevin & Co have announced a co-produced series The Sanctuary developed with Warner Bros. Discovery NZ.
The series is created by the comedy team of Laura Daniel and Joseph Moore, a writing/performing duo who also go by their musical comedy alter-egos, Two Hearts.
Daniel's acting credits include The Brokenwood Mysteries and Vince, and Joseph’s credits as a writer and producer include Taskmaster NZ, Taskmaster Australia; and as a director segments of Funny Girls and New Zealand Today. He has two feature scripts in development with the New Zealand Film Commission.
The Sanctuary follows Hunter, an eccentric American billionaire hiding in New Zealand. After selling an innocuous app, he discovers it was sold to a Russian-affiliated private military company and can be weaponized. Hunter finds himself caught between the FBI, Russian assassins, and New Zealand’s most passionate bird conservationists so he transforms his luxury island retreat into a bird sanctuary. As his private paradise becomes overrun he discovers that being a billionaire on the run isn’t all it’s cracked up to be.
Established in 2018, Kevin & Co's recent productions include two series of the scripted series Double Parked and Creamerie. Happy Accidents is a film and television studio focused on features, series, and international co-productions for global audiences founded by Holly A. Hines and Eric Jarboe.
