Production has begun on Scream 7, according to director Kevin Williamson.
The sequel had a turbulent pre-production. Christopher Landon was initially tapped to direct, with the film following the characters from 2023's Scream VI. However, star Melissa Barrera was controversially fired from her role as Sam Carpenter due to comments made about the Israel-Gaza conflict on social media.
Jenna Ortega subsequently left the sequel, citing scheduling conflicts with Netflix's Wednesday Season 2. At this time, Landon also backed out of the project.
Scream 7 is now being directed by Williamson, who wrote the first and third films in the series. Filming takes place on location in Georgia and at Great Point Studios in Atlanta.
Neve Campbell reprises her iconic role as Sidney Prescott, with a script penned by Guy Busick and James Vanderbilt.
Courteney Cox returns as Gale Weathers, joined by Mason Gooding as Chad Meeks-Martin. Newcomer Isabel May will portray Sidney’s daughter, while Celeste O’Connor, Asa Germann, Mckenna Grace, Sam Rechner, and Anna Camp round out the cast in undisclosed roles.
The film is produced by Paramount Pictures, Radio Silence Productions, and Spyglass.
