Several crew members have sustained injuries during a stunt sequence on the set of Gladiator 2 in Morocco.
The sequel, which entered production last week, saw individuals hospitalised with burn injuries on Friday (June 7) according to Variety.
A spokesperson for Paramount Pictures said: “While filming a planned stunt sequence on the set of the Gladiator sequel, an accident occurred during which several crew members experienced non-life-threatening injuries.
“The safety and full medical services teams on-site were able to act quickly so that those who were impacted immediately received necessary care. They are all in stable condition and continue to receive treatment.”
The outlet explains that a total of six people received treatment, four of whom remain in the hospital.
All of the affected crew members were treated for burn injuries. Two other crew members were treated locally and then discharged. No cast members were harmed.
The untitled Ridley Scott-directed sequel is reported to centre largely on Lucius's (the secret son of Maximus) life as an adult in Ancient Rome.
The cast includes: Pedro Pascal, Paul Mescal, Denzel Washington, Connie Nielsen and Djimon Hounsou.
David Scarpa penned the screenplay, who previously worked with Scott as the writer for All the Money in the World. Scott produces the sequel alongside Michael Pruss, the president of Scott Free Productions, and Doug Wick and Lucy Fisher from Red Wagon Entertainment.
